Lumibricks or Lego?

Lumibricks Vs Lego? Ask anyone to name a company that makes building models from plastic toy bricks, and they will instantly say LEGO. It’s the market leader worldwide since its creation in 1932 for good reason. First class quality, and a huge range of fantastic licensed brand deals with themes such as Harry Potter, Marvel, Mario and many more.

The world dominance of the building set category of toys has lead to their annual revenue exploding in recent years. Lego sets range up to hundreds of pounds. With both adults and children avidly consuming each new release. It’s a VERY expensive and addictive hobby, but is there a better alternative? Competition is good for everyone, so is there any alternative brand that could rival, or compete with,  LEGO?

When it comes to alternative brick-building brands, there’s a vast selection to explore beyond LEGO. Some companies secure official licenses to produce sets based on popular franchises, while others venture into themes that LEGO deliberately avoids—such as military models and historical warfare. Among the notable contenders are Cobi, BlueBrixx, Mega Blox, Brick Shop, JMBricklayer, and several others, all offering an extensive range of sets at competitive prices.

Although many cheaper brands  do offer designs that are impressive, the quality of the plastic and overall brick fit often fall short of LEGO’s high standards. The precision in LEGO’s molding process ensures a near-flawless connection between pieces, which is something many competitors struggle to match. However, standing out from the majority of alternative brands, one is becoming known as a potential game-change: lumibricks .

lumibrick are based in Guangdong, China. The brand name lumibricks was created to represent happiness of day and night.’

At Bricknique we’ve become a massive fan of the lumibricks range. The high quality and very competitive pricing (sets range from £30 to £100 for complete city building Modular sets. It’s almost half the price of most comparable LEGO sets

Our first build was the lumibrick Skate Store set. It was a fantastic build, totally free of stickers, packed with printed pieces, Easter egg details and an amazing light kit with specialised bricks to easily hide the cables within. Installing the wires and lights is amazingly simple and easy.

Recently we’ve fallen in love with the lumibricks Steampunk theme. Especially the steampunk train set. Many Lego collectors dismiss alternative brick brands without a second thought. However, as LEGO set prices continued to climb, many collectors are gradually being priced out. It’s hardly surprising that many more people are prepared to give alternative brick sets a go, and lumibrick will be a great discovery.

Over the past year lumibricks , have really pushed hard to get their brick quality perfected. We can’t tell the difference between their bricks and Lego.  The clutch-power (the hold between bricks) is a perfect match. The pieces are fully compatible, and a joy to use.

There are three things you will instantly see lumibricks better than LEGO :

  1. The lights
  2. Printed parts rather than stickers
  3. The price

If you’re thinking of expanding your collection of modular buildings and don’t want to spend £500+ for a retired LEGO modular set, lumibricks is a brilliant way to expand your Lego city or simply build some amazing models without the huge cost.
